UNSW Co-Op Scholarship Program

A pioneer in the global solar industry, 5B is a proud and longstanding participant in the University of NSW Co-Op scholarship program.

Over the years we’ve served as a training ground and a sponsor for dozens of budding solar and mechanical engineers, many who remain with us today, working on innovations to accelerate humanity's transition to a clean energy future.

About 5B’s partnership with UNSW Co-op Program

The UNSW Co-op Program is a career development scholarship that develops our scholars into professionals, not just graduates at the end of their university degree. The program incorporates industry experience, leadership and professional development, networking, mentoring, financial support, friends and fun, for selected undergraduate students in the disciplines of Business, Engineering, and Science.

Today, it is the largest and most prestigious scholarship program of its type in Australia and a leader in career development learning. There are over 300 current Co-op scholars who join more than 3,500 UNSW Co-Op Alumni. The experience and networks our scholars develop enrich their time at university and give them an invaluable head start upon entering the workforce.

What our students say

“The 5B Co-op experience was useful and fun! It has definitely made me think that I have made the right career choice, seeing how real-world challenges like meeting the high demand for solar energy can be solved with engineering.

I was surprised to see how relevant my mechanical engineering degree is to 5B and solar innovation more broadly. The hands-on experience I got at 5B was enlightening. I was able to design tools to ease the manufacturing process of the 5B Maverick and prototype them with the help of our team in the factory. I've received hands-on experience with power tools, assembling equipment for the assembly line that referenced a schematic I made as a Co-op intern! I also learned that working in solar innovation does not necessarily require a background in that field, rather it combines skills from every team member, it's a collective contribution."

"My 5B experience has really made me appreciate all that goes into developing the 5B Maverick and the dynamic style of work at 5B. The new practical skills and context of this side of the industry has definitely been useful in cementing my career plan."
